I recently took Mark Buhler’s 4-hour Solar class and really enjoyed it. Mark makes the class enjoyable while still giving a lot of useful information. The class I was in was completely full and he wrangled a lot of good comments and interaction from the appraisers without letting things spiral out of control.
Mark is an engaging teacher. He makes what is a technical subject…entertaining and funny and leaves the student with applicable knowledge.
I found the content to be relevant and the instructor to be very knowledgeable. I recommend this course for any appraiser wanting to learn more about how to value properties with solar.
I attended Mark’s solar valuation class in the Phoenix area 4 months ago. Solar valuation is an important issue in my market and Mark was able to take a class that could be a little dry and makes it fun and informative. Although I have quite a bit of experience appraising solar, Mark was able to help me refine my valuation techniques by teaching aspects of solar valuation that I had never considered before. I would recommend the class to anyone who wants to learn or improve their solar valuation process.
The information presented in this class in invaluable. There are websites and documents provided in this class that would be hard to find if not for this class. The information presented in this class was able to be utilized in my everyday work, which has made my reports more USPAP compliant. There are not many CE classes I have taken that made this much difference in my everyday work. I highly recommend this class to anyone needing more information about solar systems.
I took Mark’s class last year and walked away with some nuggets about how to approach valuing solar. What I appreciated most was the instructor mentioning the importance of reconciling value instead of only giving emphasis to one approach or method.
I enjoy Mark’s style with practical, local examples, and his in depth knowledge on this topic. The time goes fast and the course is engaging. I thought the power bill analysis and verification of the actual annual utility rate in cents/kWh increases the accuracy of the DCF for the present value solar analysis. Also, there are good websites shared on getting a correct azimuth, pitch for degrees, and other helpful solar tips across more than one approach to value.
I also had taken this course before and enjoyed taking it again. Mark puts the local cost per watt out from various studies in each state, provides a heads up on the latest battery innovations, and lays out the sunsetting tax rebates which will most likely affect the solar industry.
Great course. I always increase my accuracy and use this course as the latest update.
I recently took Mark’s solar class and loved it! No longer will I speed off when I see solar panels on the roof! Thanks for knowledge and adding humor to the class Mark!
After I attended Mark’s class, I found the additional knowledge, methods, tools and resources helpful to my appraisal business. Gaining competency in valuation methods for these various systems and components will be something we all must achieve. Marks class definitely gave me additional insights. I recommend it to all appraisers wanting to gain a better understanding of the valuation and future of solar.
The four hour deep dive into the important considerations of solar PV valuation gives the professional residential appraiser awareness of an important housing trend but also delivers walk away solutions for everyday challenges of valuing solar PV. Mr. Buhler’s course is highly recommended.
